Office and Commercial Clearance
Emptying an office, shop or commercial unit at the end of a lease, after a refit or before a move. Kwikshift's crews take out the furniture, take down what needs taking down and leave the space ready to hand back.

Offices, Shops and Commercial Units
House Clearance Staffordshire works in partnership with Kwikshift Removals & Storage. Kwikshift Removals Ltd carries out the work, with its own crews and vans. Kwikshift has over 15 years in removals and holds £10 million public liability insurance, which is worth knowing if your landlord or building manager asks.
Typical jobs include:
- whole offices emptied at the end of a lease;
- one floor or one department cleared after a restructure;
- old furniture taken out before new furniture arrives;
- shops and retail units cleared of fixtures, stock rooms and back-office furniture;
- small commercial units, studios and storerooms;
- archive rooms full of old files and boxes.
What We Take Out
Office furniture is heavy, awkward and often bolted together. The crew takes it apart where needed so it can go down stairs and through doors without damage to the building.
Furniture
Desks, bench workstations, office chairs, meeting tables, reception seating, kitchen tables and break-room furniture.
Storage
Filing cabinets, cupboards, lockers, pedestals, racking and shelving. Please empty filing cabinets of anything confidential first.
Partitions and fittings
Freestanding screens, desk dividers and partitions taken apart and removed. Fixed walls and building work are for a builder.
IT and electricals
Computers, screens, printers, phones and kitchen appliances, disposed of through appropriate licensed routes.
Shop fittings
Freestanding counters, display units, stockroom shelving and back-office furniture from retail units.
General waste
Old stock, packaging, broken chairs and the odds and ends every office collects over the years.
Commercial Clearance for Landlords and Agents
Sometimes the business has already gone. A tenant leaves a unit full of desks, stock or shop fittings, and the landlord or managing agent needs it emptied before the next tenant can move in.
Kwikshift can clear what has been left behind and take it to licensed sites, with reuse where items are fit for it. Before you book, check with your solicitor or agent that the former tenant no longer has any claim on what is inside. Then send photos of each room, the address and how the crew will get in, and Kwikshift will quote for the whole unit.
How a typical office clearance runs
- 1. You send photos, a list or a floor plan, plus your dates and access details.
- 2. Kwikshift quotes, and visits first if the site is large or complicated.
- 3. You mark anything staying, and clear out personal and confidential items.
- 4. The crew takes furniture apart, protects doorways where needed and loads the vehicles.
- 5. Items go for reuse or licensed disposal, with a waste transfer note if you ask for one.
Planning Around Your Business
Most businesses can't simply close for a day. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- when staff and customers are in the building;
- any landlord rules, such as goods lift bookings or loading bay times;
- the date you must hand the keys back;
- parking and access: a loading bay, a rear yard, or a busy high street.
If the work needs to happen out of hours, Kwikshift can look at planning it early, late or at a weekend. For a bigger site, a visit first is often the best way to get the plan right.
Reuse First, Then Licensed Disposal
Good office furniture often has plenty of life left in it. Where it is in decent condition, Kwikshift tries to pass it on to new homes or charities rather than send it to landfill. Anything that can't be reused goes to licensed waste sites.
Businesses have a legal duty of care for their waste. GOV.UK says you must check your waste carrier is registered. You also need a waste transfer note for each load that leaves your premises, and should keep a copy for two years.
Kwikshift Removals Ltd is an upper tier waste carrier, Environment Agency registration CBDU232762. You can check it on the public register. Ask for a waste transfer note and Kwikshift will provide one.

The Information Commissioner's Office says businesses must make sure no personal data is left on devices before getting rid of them.
Data wiping isn't part of a standard clearance. Before the clearance, please:
- wipe or remove hard drives from computers, laptops and servers, or use a data specialist;
- factory reset phones, tablets and printers with built-in storage;
- empty filing cabinets and drawers of confidential paper, and shred it or use a shredding service.
Moving Office as Well?
Often a clearance is half of the job. You are moving to new premises and only taking some of the furniture. Kwikshift can clear what you don't need and move what you do, with office removals across Staffordshire and the rest of the UK. Furniture you aren't ready to part with can go into secure, CCTV-monitored storage.
Kwikshift's crews cover business premises in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stafford and Leek, as well as Kidsgrove, Stone, Biddulph and Cheadle. Kwikshift aims to reply promptly during business hours, normally within 60 minutes.
